~ Size Specific Ready Made ~
You are now at the crossroads of the monumental hat documentation of 2020 - 2025. We have been making hats in Oregon since 1978, time enough to accumulate a diverse collection of hat fabrics and line of hat styles. This web page and all its links are a reference towards that immense diversity. That’s why all the hats say, “$0” and “Sold Out”. Once upon a time these individual hats were for sale, now they exist as pure potential. You are welcome to inquire about any hat photograph, please send requests using the Fabric Library Form at the bottom of this page. We may still be able to make the exact hat photographed, however, the central goal of this page is to show you what kind of hats we make. This is because although we may not be able to duplicate a hat from the past, we make hats of a similar feel again and again. We have a certain style, and we are always drawn to work with certain types of fabrics.
Listen closely: this page is vast. It is not the place to make a traditional special order, check out the various Catalog Pages on the Homepage for that. This page is instead primarily designed to mimic the experience of being in our hat booth at a festival or market in the Pacific Northwest. The idea is that you first use the Media page to learn your exact hat size, and the Hat People Hat style(s) that are interesting to you. Equipped with this knowledge, you then peruse the links below. Mainly you will be looking at fabrics, but you may also be looking at mixed fabric compositions- for example Sports Caps are often a hat made from two different fabrics. Fill out the Fabric Library Form at the bottom of this page to prompt us, and in turn we will find hats in your size / preferred styles / preferred fabrics in our current hat booth inventory. Throughout the website, this purchase option is referred to as ~ Size Specific Ready Made ~ hats.
Although this page is geared mainly towards people interested in our ~ Size Specific Ready Made ~ option, it can also be used to design a hat from uncut fabric. This is called a Fabric Library Hat Order. Although this option is not encouraged, we would be happy to do it for you. Fabric Library Hat Orders are more expensive and might take a year to complete, or maybe… no promises… (Hat booth inventory and Hat Catalog Special Orders have got us running at top speed most of the year. )
But anyways, this page is quite the celebration. It is always a joy to see so much of our work in one place.
And Now, the Hats!
Why are the hats numbered?
(As you explore the links on this page you will quickly see the numbers in the title of each hat. All hats have names like, Sports Cap #222 or Touring Cap #007.)
With these hat numbers we will search our ~ Size Specific Ready Made ~ options, and/or Fabric Library Hat Order options. Clearly this is a creative and unique hat purchasing venue, so hold on tight for the next twist: if you choose ALOT of numbers, that helps us. If you say, “I like the Full Cut, but maybe the Deep Cut is okay too?” that helps us. Vague directions are big targets, rigid precise wishes make for small targets. This twist, obviously, is most poignant when using our ~ Size Specific Ready Made ~ option, but it informs the Fabric Library Hat Order option as well. If you need an exact hat fabric/style, we can probably get there- we have a lot of hat making capacity. But if you can afford some limberness or flexibility in your Fabric Library Hat Order, you might find your dream hat is completed more quickly.
