The Leaf Corps
Winter and Summer Leaf Corps Hats follow close in the tradition of Hat People. We founded our enterprise while living as artists in a small cabin on Silver Creek, in the mountain wilderness of Southern Oregon. The first hat I designed, as a fledgling hat maker; was inspired by the forest. I called it a Forester’s Hat, but most folks referred to the design as a Robin Hood Hat. Next came the Raven Billed Cruiser. Sporting a four piece top, the Cruiser was constructed of Pendleton Blanket Wool and was deep enough to cover the ears when pulled down.
Time passed….the Forester and the Raven Billed Cruiser became rarities on the hat racks of Hat People. But sure as the clock goes ‘round: I began to realize that just as the Forester and the Cruiser were inspired by the Natural World, so too, did they invoke the Natural World! This realization became the driving force behind the Winter and Summer Leaf Corps designs. To design a hat whose very shape invokes the Natural World.
Leaf Corps Hat orders require a dialogue. I find a cell phone to be well constituted for the task. We discuss colors, I text thoughts and pictures, and we design your hat. I’ve been doing this for sometime now, and the process works swell! Send an email, or call, if you like. ~ Jim
